Production Manager – Cabinetry Manufacturing.
JG Custom Cabinetry & Design.
Neenah, Wisconsin.
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | On-Site.
About the Opportunity:
JG Custom Cabinetry & Design is a growing cabinetry company with more than 22 years of experience designing, building, and delivering high-quality cabinetry.
We started more than two decades ago with a few saws, hands-on craftsmanship, and a commitment to doing excellent work. Today, we have a talented team, modern woodworking equipment and automation, established processes, and a growing volume of work.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced, hands-on leader to lead our cabinetry manufacturing operation.
This is not a desk-based production management position. Our Production Manager is present on the shop floor — leading people, managing workflow, solving problems, maintaining quality, and helping ensure projects move through production accurately and on time.
If you know how to lead people, understand woodworking or cabinetry, think well on your feet, and enjoy getting the job done right, this may be an excellent opportunity.
The Role:
The Production Manager is responsible for the people, processes, materials, quality, and daily flow of our cabinetry manufacturing operation.
You will lead a production team of approximately 15 people and help develop the team as the company grows.
Your primary responsibility is straightforward:
Lead the team and production process so quality cabinetry gets built accurately, efficiently, and on time — consistently.
That means setting priorities, communicating expectations, keeping people and materials moving, identifying problems, and making good decisions when circumstances change.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead, coach, direct, and support our cabinetry production team.
- Manage daily workflow from materials and components through completed cabinetry.
- Establish clear priorities and make sure team members understand what needs to be accomplished.
- Keep production moving toward project deadlines while maintaining high standards for quality and accuracy.
- Assign people where they are most needed based on workload and priorities.
- Identify bottlenecks, material issues, quality concerns, staffing challenges, and other obstacles to production.
- Assess problems, make sound decisions, and implement practical solutions.
- Coordinate materials, parts, hardware, equipment, and labor to keep production moving.
- Maintain visibility into upcoming production requirements and prepare the team accordingly.
- Work closely with other company leaders and departments to ensure a smooth flow of projects into and out of manufacturing.
- Maintain high standards for craftsmanship, accuracy, organization, safety, and professionalism.
- Help train, coach, and develop production team members.
- Hold people accountable while treating them respectfully.
- Identify practical opportunities to improve workflow, processes, organization, and efficiency.
- Remain hands-on and willing to step into the work when necessary to keep production moving.
What We’re Looking For:
Above all, we’re looking for a leader who understands how things get built.
You do not necessarily need years of experience with the title “Production Manager.” You may currently be a production manager, shop manager, shop foreman, lead cabinetmaker, woodworking supervisor, lead carpenter, or hold another hands-on leadership position.
What matters most is your ability to lead people, understand the work, solve problems, and get things done.
Our ideal candidate has:
- Proven experience leading, supervising, or directing people.
- Meaningful experience with cabinetry, woodworking, carpentry, millwork, or a closely related trade.
- A practical understanding of how parts, materials, people, and processes flow through a woodworking or manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Good judgment and confidence making decisions.
- The ability to independently manage day-to-day production without requiring constant direction.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- An understanding of quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- The ability to read and understand measurements, plans, drawings, work orders, and production information.
- Comfort working around woodworking equipment, tools, machinery, and modern production methods.
- Basic comfort with computers and technology.
- Strong communication skills.
- A positive, solutions-oriented approach to challenges.
- The ability to work collaboratively with other leaders and departments.
Experience We’re Most Interested In:
We especially want to hear from candidates with backgrounds in:
- Cabinet manufacturing.
- Custom cabinetry.
- Cabinet shops.
- Architectural millwork.
- Woodworking.
- Finish carpentry.
- Furniture manufacturing.
- Residential or commercial carpentry.
- Closely related wood-product manufacturing environments.
Cabinetry experience is strongly preferred, but we will consider an experienced woodworking or carpentry leader who has the leadership ability and practical knowledge to learn our specific operation quickly.
Traditional high-volume manufacturing experience by itself is not what we’re looking for. This position requires someone who understands the realities of building custom or semi-custom products where craftsmanship, measurements, materials, problem-solving, and changing project requirements matter.
The Person Who Will Thrive Here:
You will probably enjoy this position if you:
- Like leading people and helping a team succeed.
- Naturally notice when something isn’t flowing correctly and want to fix it.
- Can walk onto a production floor, assess what’s happening, and determine what needs attention.
- Stay calm and make good decisions when plans change or problems arise.
- Take ownership instead of waiting for someone else to solve the problem.
- Are comfortable giving direction and holding people accountable.
- Respect craftsmanship and enjoy working alongside skilled people.
- Have a positive, “we can figure this out” mindset.
- Balance urgency with accuracy.
- Prefer being involved in the work rather than managing from an office.
- Want the autonomy to lead while being part of a collaborative leadership team.
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this position means:
Our people know what is expected. Materials and projects flow. Problems get solved. Quality stays high. Commitments are met. Production gets done right and on time — again and again.
We aren’t looking for someone who simply watches production.
We’re looking for someone who leads it.
Why JG Custom Cabinetry & Design?:
We have been building cabinetry for more than 22 years, and we’re continuing to grow.
You’ll join an established company with a talented team, a strong commitment to quality, modern equipment and automation alongside traditional craftsmanship, and an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on how our manufacturing operation develops.
We offer:
- Competitive compensation based on experience.
- Opportunity for performance-based incentives.
- Health insurance and company benefits.
- Monday–Friday schedule.
- Full-time, year-round employment.
- A collaborative and positive working environment.
- An established and growing company.
- The opportunity to lead and develop a talented production team.
- Meaningful autonomy and the opportunity to help improve and shape our manufacturing operation.
Schedule & Location:
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | On-Site in Neenah, Wisconsin.
This is an in-person, production-floor leadership position and is not a remote or primarily office-based role.
Interested?:
If you have a strong woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, or carpentry background and have developed into someone others naturally look to for leadership, direction, and problem-solving, we’d like to hear from you.
Likewise, if you already lead a cabinet or woodworking production operation and are looking for an opportunity where you can have greater ownership and impact, we encourage you to apply.
Please submit your resume along with a brief description of your cabinetry, woodworking, carpentry, manufacturing, and leadership experience.
